Runny Nose :(

Poor Caleb has a cold or something. He started with a runny nose and a low fever, then it's just gotten snottier by the day. The doctor (Friday) said he's fine, but since then he's been miserable and so congested. Poor guy just feels awful. He's sleeping now, and thank goodness the sickies haven't made him sleep bad. He's still a sleeping little fool! If anything it's made him want to sleep even more!

We're still not walking, but he sill has a month before his birthday. I'm not counting on that, but wouldn't it be neat for him to have a new trick as cool as walking to show off for his birthday party?

What's new?

Caleb's throwing arm is improving. This morning when I went to get him out of his bed his pacifier was halfway across the room in the floor! No wonder he was yelling!

It's only about 5 weeks until Caleb's first Bday! I'm so excited and sad at the same time. My little man is growing up too fast! I am excited about having a birthday party for him though. It will be fun to get everyone together and remember what we were doing a year ago that day. I know what I was doing... PUSH! 1..2..3..4.. .. ..10!

So what's new at our house? Caleb isn't walking yet, but he is RUNNING behind his push toy. It is the funniest thing when I pretend to "get" him and he explodes with laughter and instantly picks up his pace to a full on jog. He loves to make a track around the living room, entryway, dining room and kitchen. He also loves exploring our bedroom, the bathroom, and the hallway. He goes everywhere with that thing! I just wish he would let go of it! Yesterday he let go of the walker and took one stumbling step to grab hold of the couch. I don't count that because it was a reaction to falling forward - move your feet forward too. Once a few days ago as he stood by himself for a particularly long time I slid one of his feet forward and then the second foot he helped me a little. Then he promptly sat down. He's getting it! Slowly but surely. We'll see if we can show off his new trick at his birthday party. The coutdown is on!!

SNOW!!
Happily bundled up

The saga of a 10 month old

Today I walked out of a long overdue bathroom break and saw the tail end of what looked like a short tumble down the stairs. He may have only made it up one step before turning around and sliding down face first. He's a toughie though, because all he gave was a whine.

Last night was the first time we ever stayed in bed and listened to the sound of a baby crying for more than 45 minutes. I had to physically keep Greg from getting up and going to get him. Apparently, pacifier addiction goes on into the early morning hours. I think we're about done with that. All this week I've been trying to train him to fall asleep on his own, without rocking or a noise maker. I thin he's old enough to know that when he wakes up in the night he can put his paci back in or tough it out without one. Maybe this way he'll self-wean from the paci and we won't have to do it. I think the next step is putting him down without one actually in his mouth, only in his bed. That way if he wants one he can get it himself and if he doesn't, he can ignore it. Crossing fingers for that to happen........

I'm still patiently waiting for a first step. He keeps standing up, and cruising between furniture, but not quite to the stepping yet. Soon, though!

We're going to have his first birthday party on the weekend either before or after his bday. I am still waiting for my emails to come back with family preferences. I think I will have a small neighborhood get-together for some of Caleb's baby friends on the actual birthday. (a Wednesday)

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE this job? This is what I was meant to do! I love being a part of my little boy's life every minute of every day! He's such a good boy, even when he is bad! Which is practically never, unless there's a tooth issue.

I think I need to go rescue Ladybug from baby fingers.

another try

I'm going to try to post these videos again. If I can't get Youtube to work, I'll go back to dropshots...

YouTube

Here is the thing: Babies are funny! Just watch and see. It's great fun. The first one I had a hard time not crying I was laughing so hard behind the camera. That's probably why it's shaking so bad. The second one I was trying my hardest to be 'Stern Mommy' and not laugh at the face he made when I told him NO. Laughter ensues:
